Villainous Villains Part 4

So  two guys, a robot, and a brain in a jar get arrested... Here's the next part of my favourite graphic novel about weird villains. If I ever write a sequel, and believe me I have ideas, I'd love to bring back Violet Shadow in a big way. She has such a small part here, but I'd like to see what she could do on her own and how her feeling towards our four villains change after the events of this story.  Read Part 1 Here Read Part 2 Here Read Part 3 Here PAGE 18 Panel 1: In the gloom of night, the police transport moves along a street on the edge of the city. Panel 2: It stops at a red traffic light. Panel 3: From a nearby building, a shadowed figured drops down on top of the police transport The policemen in front don’t see a thing. Panel 4: The policeman driving checks his side mirror and sees nothing. Panel 5: In the back of the transport, Spam Man, Technomancer, Brain, and Tinman have all fallen asleep. Panel 6: Close up of the barred window in the back door o...

The Word Monster Part 1

A York University President's Prize Winning Script. So, as I mentioned, I'm a screenwriting major. This, predictably, has required me to write a few scripts. I've decided to post some of my favourites as they're a shorter read than, oh, say the graphic novel I'm posting. Though as an in-joke, I do reference it in the script. This script I consider one of the best I've ever written. "The Word Monster" was the first script I wrote where I was allowed to go wild. There were no rules beyond the obvious "don't write anything that's bad and offensive" and the limit of 15 pages. I'd had the idea of a girl who had written a monster made of words  kicking around for a long while, ever since I saw Disney's Coco and wondered why all the animated children's films about being artistic are about musicians.  That's a rule I write by. If something disappoints you, write the version of it you wanted. So when we were given almost unlimi...

Villainous Villains Part 3

This is when things really start to kick off.  As I edited and rewrote this story, the friendship between Spam Man, Technomancer, Tinman, and Brain became more important thematically and within the plot itself. I love this first meeting between them just because of how hostile they are towards each other. They each have their own beef but none of them have a clue how far they're going to go together. Read Part 1 Here Read Part 2 Here PAGE 11 Panel 1: The masked woman collides hard with Spam Man, Technomancer, and Tinman, knocking them all backwards. Her backpack flies open and the piece of technology tumbles out. Panel 2: While everyone is lying dazed on the ground, the masked woman stands halfway up, holding her aching head with one hand. Two superheroes rush out the superhero headquarters behind them. Panel 3: The masked woman quickly stuffs the piece of technology in her backpack while the others are all still dazed and the two superheroes close in. Panel 4: The masked w...

Villainous Villains Part 2

Back for part 2? There's not particularly any stories about these next few pages other than this was (more or less) the original opening. It started with the heist but once I developed the characters and their backstories, I changed it to what it is now. I felt it was more exciting and has some nice foreshadowing. Though you don't know it yet, that first scene has major implications in the crisis of the story. Hold on folks, we're just getting started. Read  Part 1 Here

Villainous Villains Part 1

It's been four years and I'm still not keen on that title. So this is a bit of an odd one. When I graduated high school in 2016, I took a gap year in which I worked at a library. My hours quickly declined to the point where I was working one and a half to two days a week. Long story short, I was very bored and very lonely. So I came up with an unorthodox solution to my problems. I decided to write a graphic novel about supervillains. Aimed at ages 9-12. This was the first (and at the time of this post, only) full-length piece of writing I've ever done. Perpetually labelled as A1 on my computer, it racks in at a planned 158 pages and is the story of four lame villains who are accused of a robbery they didn't do and rocket to the top of the national villain list overnight as a result. And also they become friends. The characters are weird, the humour is odd, I had barely any plan when I wrote it, I have eight different versions of it saved, and lovingly referred to it as ...

Congratulations!

You found it! Lost deep within the vast expanse of the internet, you've somehow managed to stumble across this hidden site. So congratulations! That's gotta count for something, right? As a prize for your achievement, let me offer you a story. Or maybe two.  I'm Abbie, I'm 21, a screenwriting major, and currently going through a hard and weird ol' time in my life. So I started a blog.  I made this site as a temporary place to share the stories I've written with anyone who finds them and has the interest to read them.  So read away, fill your life with these and any stories you can find, because I believe that there's nothing better or more meaningful. Stories make us feel and give us what our normal lives can't possibly provide. I want you to smile, cry, and be swept into a world that might be better than the one you live in now. To me, there's nothing more beautiful than a well-told story. And I'm giving you mine. That's a pretty good prize,...
